Essential tips for starting Breathedge 2

⚠️ Unofficial Guide

Based on official announcements and the original Breathedge. Content may evolve as Early Access launches on August 31, 2026.

Getting Started

What Is Breathedge 2?

Breathedge 2 is a first-person space survival adventure with humor, crafting, exploration, and story-driven missions. You'll manage a crew, pilot a spacecraft, gather resources, and fight an evil space corporation—all while keeping your oxygen levels in check.

Do I Need to Play Breathedge 1?

No, but it helps. Breathedge 2 is a direct sequel, but the developers state "everything will be equally confusing to Breathedge veterans and complete newcomers alike." Playing the original will familiarize you with the humor, basic mechanics, and universe.

Core Survival Mechanics

Oxygen Management

Like the first game, you'll need to constantly monitor your oxygen in open space. Plan your exploration routes carefully and always know where the nearest oxygen source is.

Temperature & Hazards

Your spacesuit must manage temperature extremes. Different areas of space may have temperature dangers requiring specific suit upgrades.

Crafting System

Breathedge 2 features extensive crafting. You'll learn blueprints, gather resources from debris and wrecks, and craft tools, equipment, and suit upgrades. The game emphasizes humor—expect to build useful items from "garbage" and duct tape.

New Features in Breathedge 2

Crew Management

Unlike the solo experience in Breathedge 1, you now manage crew members with distinct personalities, needs, and goals. Your crew will help with ship operations and exploration.

Ship Piloting

You'll pilot an upgradeable spacecraft through multiple star systems. Each system has unique visuals, rules, and planets to explore.

Multiple Star Systems

The game world is much larger than Breathedge 1's single debris field. Expect non-linear exploration across different zones with varied challenges.

First Steps

  • Explore cautiously: Keep an eye on oxygen and don't venture too far from safety initially
  • Collect everything: Seemingly useless junk often becomes essential crafting materials
  • Learn blueprints: Scan and discover new crafting recipes as you explore
  • Upgrade your suit: Prioritize oxygen and temperature upgrades early
  • Talk to your crew: Learn about their personalities and how they can help
  • Don't take it too seriously: The game is filled with dark comedy and absurd situations

The Immortal Chicken

Your faithful companion returns from Breathedge 1. Yes, the chicken is immortal. Yes, you need to protect it. No, it doesn't make sense—and that's the point.
